In this guide:

Launch Screen

Double click on the MortgageBrain Classic desktop icon to launch the software. The Launch screen is the starting point for all sourcing.

New and Existing Clients

Choose whether you wish to work with a New Client or an Existing Client. By selecting New Client, all previous client data will be removed from view and display a blank screen. The Existing Client option will display all details of the last client saved. This includes applicant and mortgage details on the left, together with any documentation produced (IDD, FactFind, RFR, Illustrations, etc) on the right-hand side.

Recall Client

If you wish to select a previously sourced client, then the software provides two options for recalling a client.

  1. Recall Client will display a list of the last ten clients saved into the database as shown on the screen below. Simply highlight the client that is required and click Recall Client. This will insert the client data, including mortgage details and previously saved documentation, into the launch screen. The client data can then be passed through to any of the other modules displayed from the launch screen, including the ability to resource for the client.

  2. If the client required is not one of the last ten clients saved, then there is the ability, by pressing View Client List (see acreen above) display all clients saved in MortgageBrain Classic (shown below).

The search facility can be used to locate the client either by surname or first name. Once the client has been chosen, by clicking Recall Client, this will display the chosen client in the launch screen together with their respective client and mortgage data and any documentation previously saved.

Importing Client Data from Trigold

MortgageBrain Classic has an import wizard that makes transferring your clients from Trigold very quick and easy. Simply follow the steps below…

Open MortgageBrain Classic and from the tool bar menu, select Client Database.

By selecting Client Database, this will present you with the screen on the left below. Select Enter New Client Details to open your client database within MortgageBrain Classic. The screen on the right shows the database.

From the database, select File > Import/Export > Import from Trigold

The screen will display a list of all the clients currently stored in Trigold. Checkboxes are available next to each client name to allow the ability to individually select clients that are to be imported. Alternatively, by selecting the Import All button, this will automatically import all clients from Trigold to MortgageBrain Classic.

Please note: The import facility will transfer all client data automatically but will not transfer documentation.

As the client data is being transferred, you will see a progress bar on the screen. Once all the clients have been imported, this is confirmed by a pop up box.

The name of the first client imported will automatically appear in the client database. Use the Exit button to close the database down and return to the MortgageBrain Classic launch screen.

The remaining clients that have been imported can easily be found by clicking Recall Client from the launch screen. This will automatically display a list of clients.

To display a recently imported client, simply click on the required client and click Recall Client. The client data will then be displayed in the launch screen and can be pre-populated into Sourcing. All future documentation produced for the client will automatically be stored in the launch screen against the client name.

Importing Client Data from Other Databases

Please note: Before importing client data into MortgageBrain Classic, ensure that you have exported the data from the third party database first. The exported data should be saved as an Excel spreadsheet or a .csv file. These are common file types and the third party database should automatically save them in one of these formats when exporting. Remember the location and file name of where it is saved as you will need this for the import process.

Once the data is ready to be imported into MortgageBrain Classic, follow the steps below.

  • Open MortgageBrain Classic and from the tool bar menu, select Client Database.

  • Select Enter New Client Details to open up the client database within MortgageBrain Classic. The screen below shows the database.

  • From the database, select File > Import/Export > Import Wizard

The import wizard will guide you through the import process as shown below.

  • Select the option Create a New Import Specification

  • Select the location of the file (where the exported database was originally saved).

  • Once selected, the file name is displayed in the grey bar. Leave all other settings as they are and select Next.

  • A message confirms how many clients the import wizard will bring across from the database file.

  • The data that is to be imported is displayed. Any columns that you do not wish to import can easily be removed by highlighting them and clicking on Remove. If no amendments are to be made, select Next to continue.

  • This screen allows the data to be checked before finalising the import. If there are no amendments to be made, select Finish to start importing the data.

  • The progress bar shows the import being carried out. Once the import has been completed, the wizard confirms this.

  • The import specification can be saved if it is to be used again in the future.

  • Provide a name which is specific and meaningful and select OK to save the import specification for future use.

  • Having saved the original import specification, if importing clients again from a database, the import wizard will ask if you wish to use an existing import specification as shown below.

  • The name of the first client imported will automatically appear in the client database. Use the Exit button to close the database down and return to the launch screen.

  • The remaining clients that have been imported can easily be found by pressing Recall Client. This will automatically display a list of clients.
